Depth Ratio in short
What does Depth Ratio show?
Mirrored bars under the chart: red bars up are the short line, green bars down are the long line. The indicator shows which way the order book is skewed. A bar beyond the dashed threshold turns bright, its zone is shaded and a mark appears on the price chart.
How to read Depth Ratio?
- A bar beyond the threshold means the skew in that direction has become extreme.
- Pulse presets suit fast moves, Wave presets medium ones, Tide the larger swings.
- “Whole market” shows the skew across the market; “Chart coin” shows it for the chart's coin.
How to use Depth Ratio?
- Read Depth Ratio signals together with Wall Pressure: agreement between the two strengthens the picture.
- Start with the Wave 1 preset and see how often it fires on your timeframe.
- Thresholds are set in the settings: the smaller the number, the rarer the signals.
What do you often see on Depth Ratio?
- There is no separate history test: use it alongside Wall Pressure, not on its own.
- Presets cover different scales: a fast and a slow one can point different ways, and that is normal.
- Marks can be frequent, so first check how often they appear on your timeframe.
Where can I find Depth Ratio?
In the Liqwall terminal: the Indicators button, the Signals section, Depth Ratio. The “Open in the terminal” button on this page opens the chart with it already added.

0:00What Depth Ratio is
Order book skew for fast, medium and large moves — with no manual setup. This is Depth Ratio — ready presets, each for its own scale of movement.
0:11How to add Depth Ratio to the chart
Press the Indicators button, open the Liqwall list and type Depth Ratio in the search. The indicator goes into a separate panel under the chart, and marks appear on the candles.
0:23How to read Depth Ratio
The panel shows mirrored bars. Green going down is the long line, a skew toward buying. Red going up is the short line, a skew toward selling. When a bar crosses the dashed line, it turns bright. The zone lights up, and a mark appears on the price chart.
0:42Depth Ratio settings
The main setting is Preset. Pulse is for fast moves, Wave for medium, Tide for large ones. Start with the Wave 1 preset and see how often marks appear on your timeframe. The Scope field switches whose order book to watch.
Whole market — the entire market. Or Chart coin — the coin on the chart. The Long threshold and Short threshold set how extreme the skew must be. The smaller the number, the rarer the marks.
1:16An example on a real chart
An example. Bitcoin, 4 hours, the Wave 1 preset, the coin's order book. On September 3, within a day, the price soared from 77,900 to 81,300. On the candle from 7 p.m. a red bar crosses the dashed line and lights up.
Four hours later the price reached 82,300, and that was the top. The next day the price fell to 78,600, and a week later it was at 76,000. Now the other side. September 15.
The price is sliding toward 77 thousand. On the candle from 11 a.m. a green bar crosses the dashed line. In the evening the price dips once more to 74,900, and then over 6 days rises to 87,300.
2:09What to pair Depth Ratio with
When the side matches Wall Pressure, the picture is stronger. With Market Pressure you see whether the coin is skewed against the market. And together with Range Compression it is easy to catch the moment when the book gets skewed during a price squeeze.
2:24The takeaway
Remember that the presets look at different scales. The fast and the large one may point in different directions. And that is normal. Choose your scale of movement and watch the book skew exactly at that scale.
