Smart Money Zones in short
What does Smart Money Zones show?
Liqwall's in-house indicator for BTC, ETH and SOL. On the price chart: background accumulation and distribution zones, candle coloring, anomaly triangles, ETF flow squares, order book diamonds and short and long labels. The pane shows Binance columns and multi-day ETF sums. Available from the Basic plan and with a strategy subscription.
How to read Smart Money Zones?
- A green background is an accumulation zone, red is distribution. Candles take the color of the current zone.
- Some days are highlighted separately in the background and in the candle color: on those days the market's direction is especially clear.
- Short and long labels are the indicator's signals. On ETH and SOL they show the BTC signal.
- Triangles mark days of unusually strong flows; gray ones are anomalies against ETF flows.
How to use Smart Money Zones?
- Use the zones as context: be careful with shorts in accumulation and with longs in distribution.
- Watch the 7, 14 or 30-day ETF sum: a change of sign shows fund flows turning.
- The indicator is built day by day, so it reads best on the daily chart.
What do you often see on Smart Money Zones?
- There are few long and short labels, but in our data most of them saw a notable move their way first.
- Long labels have been more reliable than short ones.
- With so few labels, any next one can still turn out wrong.
- The indicator is daily: on small timeframes one zone stretches across days.
Where can I find Smart Money Zones?

0:00What Smart Money Zones is
Where is big money going? Into accumulation or distribution? Smart Money Zones is Liqwall's own indicator for bitcoin, ether and Solana that shows this right on the chart.
0:12How to add Smart Money Zones to the chart
Press the Indicators button, open the Liqwall list and type Smart Money Zones in the search. The price chart gets a background, candle colors and marks, and a separate panel shows flow columns.
0:25How to read Smart Money Zones
The indicator is daily. It is best viewed on the daily chart. A green background is an accumulation zone, red is a distribution zone. Candles are colored by the current zone, so you see the market's phase at once.
Days when the direction is especially clear are marked separately. Triangles are days of abnormally strong flows, squares are exchange-traded fund flows, diamonds are order book imbalance. The Short and Long labels are the indicator's own marks. The panel shows columns and sums of fund flows over several days.
A change in the sum's sign is a reversal of the flow.
1:02Smart Money Zones settings
In the settings you can choose the ETF Days window — 7, 14 or 30 days. Turn on Joint Days — days when big money moves in one direction. And Anomalies — days of anomalies.
1:16An example on a real chart
An example — bitcoin, September and October. From September 3 to 21 the price rose from 82,300 to 87,400. The indicator drew a red line through these highs. The price went up, but big money supported the rise less and less.
On September 25, around 84,200, the first short mark appeared. On October 6, around 85,500 — the second short mark. On October 7 and 8 the indicator marked days when money was leaving both the funds and the market at the same time. On October 8 bitcoin fell to 80 thousand, and on the 15th to 79,700.
2:01What to pair Smart Money Zones with
Keep ETF Flows next to it — fund flows by day, without zones. Wall Pressure will show order book imbalance in a panel, and Corporate Holdings — company purchases inside a zone. On ether and Solana the Short and Long labels show the marks from bitcoin.
