Visible Range Volume Profile in short
What does Visible Range Volume Profile show?
At the edge of the chart, a volume-by-price histogram for the range currently on screen. Market buys and sells are shown separately. The amber line is the POC, the price with the most volume. The dashed VAH and VAL lines bound the value area, where the bulk of the volume traded. The profile is rebuilt as you scroll and zoom.
How to read Visible Range Volume Profile?
- The POC is the price that traded the most within the visible range.
- Long rows are prices where the market spent time; short rows are prices it moved through quickly.
- In the Delta view a row is green if buying dominated at that price and red if selling did.
- While the chart is moving the profile is approximate; it is refined once the chart stops.
How to use Visible Range Volume Profile?
- Move the chart so the range you care about fills the screen, for example the whole current range, and read its POC and value area bounds.
- Price usually moves fast through thin parts of the profile, while wide parts act as support and resistance.
- Compare with Session Volume Profile: that one profiles each day, this one profiles everything on screen.
What do you often see on Visible Range Volume Profile?
- Thick parts of the profile usually act as support and resistance; thin parts get crossed quickly.
- Rows with strong one-sided delta at the edge of a range often show where one side pushed and price didn't follow.
- The profile depends on what is on screen: scroll the chart and the POC moves.
- The profile itself does not tell which way a range will break.

0:24How to read Visible Range Volume Profile
Long rows are prices where the market lingered, short ones are prices passed quickly. The amber POC line is the main price of the stretch. This is where the most was traded. VAH and VAL are the boundaries of the value area. Shift or squeeze the chart. The profile is recalculated for the new stretch.
0:46Visible Range Volume Profile settings
The View setting has three modes. Buys and sells splits each row into market buys and market sells. Delta paints the row green if more was bought at that price, and red if more was sold. Total volume shows all the volume in one color. Side chooses which edge the profile is drawn from.
1:08An example on a real chart
An example. For two weeks from September 22 bitcoin moved in a corridor from 82.5 to just over 87 thousand. The POC of the stretch settled at 83,900. The lower boundary of the value area is at 82,800.
Below it the profile is almost empty. The market barely traded there. On October 8 the price dropped below the lower boundary. At six in the evening a single hourly candle ran from 82,700 to 80,900, and by eight in the evening the price was at 80,300.
The market went through the thin spot of the profile in one dash.
1:49What to pair Visible Range Volume Profile with
Inside the big profile it is convenient to watch Session Volume Profile, you can see where the daily POCs gathered many times. Orderbook Profile from the Order book section next to it will show what stands in the order book right now. And Absorption from the Signals section — where large volume was absorbed on a wide row.
2:10The takeaway
A narrow spot in the profile is a road, a wide one is a wall. VRVP is in the Liqwall terminal, in the Chart section.
